A recent history of Chloralieve

The original Chloralieve product came in two flavours – Honey & Lemon, and Mint – and was sold in packs of 12. Following a 2020 relaunch, the 12 packs were replaced with 24 packs. Then, in 2023, a new, consumer preferred Blackcurrant flavour was launched to replace the Mint.

Delivering local anaesthetic and antiseptic actions

Chloralieve is the only pharmacy-strength sore throat lozenge that offers both anaesthetic and antiseptic actions. The active ingredients are lidocaine (a local anaesthetic) and the antiseptic medications amylmetacresol and 2,4–dichlorobenzyl alcohol. This means the lozenges help to numb pain at the same time as fighting infection in the throat.
